Was listening to Mouth For War by Pantera and this came to mind. I know the developers were pretty big metal fans since they snuck in some synthesized metal tunes into the game.

Not a huge secret that Pantera, Metallica and other thrash metal bands had a huge influence on Bobby Prince when he made the soundtrack for the Doom franchise :)

For those who haven't heard of it by now, try the Brutal DOOM mod. I heard about it last December on the 20th anniversary of the first shareware release. It's worth replaying both DOOM and DOOM 2 once just to see what the new weapons do, the new enemy attacks (e.g. jumping imps), and ripping out enemies' intestines with your bare hands.
